Saint John Paul II at Orchard Lake
A Saint said Mass in our chapel. Twice.
In 1969 and 1976, Cardinal Karol Wojtyła came to Orchard Lake and celebrated Mass here — before the world knew his name. In 1978 it learned it: John Paul II. In 2014 the Church named him a Saint. In 2016 he came back to stay: a first-class relic, enshrined in the chapel where he once stood.

The chapel was built in 1962 and dedicated to Our Lady of Orchard Lake. On June 22, 2016, Archbishop Allen Vigneron consecrated it as the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. John Paul II, with a marble and gold reliquary and a side altar. Students have Mass here every week. There is adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every day, and the Orchard Lake Schools community worships here on weekends.
